Why go here?
Streetcar is the Jamaica Plain neighborhood shop with a very strong point of view. It's intentionally smaller than a typical liquor store, which means the shelves are edited rather than stuffed. The shop is particularly good for finding lesser-known grapes, small producers and bottles from places you might not think to look—then pairing them with a few pantry treats for the evening. Its monthly wine pass and Friday tastings make the discovery aspect part of the shop's personality. Streetcar's own philosophy is essentially: if it made it onto the shelf, the people working there would be happy to drink it themselves.
